Cobb & Co Crossing the Paroo River in Flood


Cunnamulla-Thargomindah Mail Car

Beginning in 1870, a fortnightly mail operated from Cunnamulla to Thargomindah. In 1871 it became a weekly service and by 1884 was running twice a week!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Settlement established in late 1800's
1872 - Post Office opened
1881 - Telegraph line to Cunnamulla

1923-Telephone exchange
1928 - Bridge over the Paroo River completed
1930 - Racetrack built
1942-45 - AirRaid Shelter to hold 50 people
1957 - Airstrip
1980 - Flying Doctor Clinic
1992 - Flood truck donated
