1847; The area first explored by the explorer Edmund Kennedy.
1865; A reserve of 2650 acres was set out for a toenship. The first residents arrived.
1868 The town was surveyed by W.A. Tully and named Charleville after his hometime in Ireland.
1870; The town grew to 25 sq. km.
1876; First Cobb & Co. coach arrived on its once weekly service from Roma.
1886; Cobb & Co set up a new factory in Charleville. Coaches previously build in Bathurst soon fell apart because the timber dried out and shrank in the dry
climate of Charleville.
1888; Rail line completed to Charleville.
1889; First artesian bore sunk in town.
1902; Clement Wragge made attempts to make rain with the famous Steiger Vortex Rainmaking Guns. Two guns now in the Graham Andrews Parklands.
1920; Cobb & Co factory closed. Up to this time it had built coaches, buggies, sulkies, etc. 1922; First flight of QANTAS. From Charleville to Longreach, then Cloncurry. 1922; First airline catering service in the world. Corones did the catering.
